For a local hairdresser who has been styling entrants in the Parkes Elvis Festival Miss Priscilla competition since its inception, meeting the real deal was a wonderful experience.
Adele Hawke of Adele's Salon & Skin Clinic had the pleasure of meeting Priscilla Presley when she was in Australia on her Elvis and Me tour.
“It was a wonderful evening,” Adele said.
“It will never happen again.”
Adele, who had a VIP ticket which included a personal meet and greet with the original first lady of Rock n Roll, said Priscilla was so beautiful and so down to earth.
“She greeted you, she shook your hand, she asked your name, she is just a lovely person,” she said.
“There are no airs or graces about her.”
Adele spoke to the 72-year-old about the Parkes Elvis Festival.
“She’s heard of the festival, she has been invited every year,” Adele said.
Adele is looking forward to this years Miss Priscilla competition on Thursday evening.
Her salon has taken out eight of the 11 competitions by styling the crowned Miss Priscilla.
Adele said the beehive is an important part of the look.
“Priscilla talked about how they used to tease her hair,” Adele said.
“She said that was the easy part – it was trying to get that look and make it look smooth that was the hard part.
