ADELE MARY IACOBUCCI REEVES

BOARDMAN - Adele Mary Iacobucci Reeves, 95, passed away peacefully, Jan. 8, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, with her daughter, Julia, at her side.

Mrs. Reeves was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Norton, W.Va., to Sofia (Presutti) and Erminio Iacobucci, the eldest of nine children. She came to the Youngstown area as a small child.

Adele had an independent spirit her whole life. She was an avid reader and a life-long learner. Her first language was Italian, but she quickly learned the English language while attending city schools.

She graduated from South High School and later attended Penn-Ohio Business School and took courses at Youngstown State University. From an early age, she learned to sew by making her brother’s shirts, as well as most of her own clothes. She had a sharp eye for detail and became an accomplished dress maker and tailor.

After graduation, Adele studied pattern making and tailoring in Cleveland. She and her sister, Irma, served the World War II war effort as aircraft inspectors at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton during the war years.

Adele worked various jobs over the years in payroll and accounting and also served as the executive secretary to two graduate deans at YSU. She retired from an insurance adjusting firm in the 1980s.

She is survived by her daughter, Julia Ann Murphy of Boardman; son Craig “Carl” R. (Beverly) Reeves of Golden, Colo.; sister Florence; brothers Emidio, Eugene, and Orlando Iacobucci; as well as grandchildren, Daniel, David, Cheryl, Aaron, Kristin, and Elizabeth; step-grandchildren, Greg and Betsy; great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Adele was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Carolyne L. Reeves; siblings Irma (Bernard) Hicks, Yolanda (Jerry) Munoz, Ernest (Marianne) Iacobucci, Guido (Mary Lou) Iacobucci; sisters-in-law Sandra and Rita Iacobucci; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of Adele’s life will be held at a later date.
