Adele and Sam Smith have quite a lot in common. They’re both Londoners. They’ve collected stacks of Grammys and Brit Awards. And, of course, they have singing voices that can melt hearts.
The similarities don’t end there. One wiseguy who goes by the name Jesse slowed down Adele’s “Hello” on a turntable and, presto, it maybe, sorta, kinda sounds a little bit like Sam Smith. Or not much at all. But Twitter is having a lot of fun with the video, which has been viewed more than 3 million times.
It’s only a matter of time before someone speeds up a Sam Smith record to see if it sounds like Adele.
Check it out below.

Folks with vinyl, turntables and a little time on their hands have been hunting for hidden truths for generations. One pop music sleuth in the ‘80s discovered Kylie Minogue’s slowed down vocals were a match for Rick Astley. The singers have been laughing ever since. Kylie, who is currently in full comeback mode, has seven U.K. No. 1 singles and five No. 1 albums to her name, while Astley enjoyed a roaring return when his 2016 album 50 hit No. 1 in the U.K.
