Camila Cabello now has the longest-running number one single from a female artist in the UK since Adele.
‘Havana’ topped the singles chart for the fifth successive week on Friday, tying it with Adele’s run for ‘Someone Like You’ back in 2011.
The collaboration with Young Thug kept Rita Ora at number two with ‘Anywhere’, with the Official Charts Company putting Ora just 1,000 sales behind Cabello.
As a member of Fifth Harmony, Cabello never once topped the singles chart, despite clocking up six Top 75 singles, with five in the Top 40 and two going Top 10.
Cabello joins an exclusive list of female artists to have spent five consecutive weeks or longer at the top of the UK singles charts, with that limited number including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Celine Dion, Leona Lewis, Whitney Houston, Duffy, Kylie Minogue, Freda Payne and Doris Day.
Over in the US, ‘Havana’ is currently at number two in the US Billboard Hot 100, while its music video has passed 296 million views on Vevo.
Cabello performed the track at the MTV EMAs last month, where she also won the Best Pop award.
Last week in the UK singles charts, Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ rose one place to three with Marshmello ft Khalid’s ‘Silence’ and Big Shaq’s ‘Man’s Not Hot’ rounding out the top five.
The highest new entry was former X Factor winner James Arthur, whose ‘Naked’ reached number 11 off the back of his performance on the reality show the previous weekend.
Sheeran’s track is tipped to overtake Cabello’s single this week, after a remix featuring BeyoncĂ© was given a shock release on Friday.
